Brief introduction of Lionel Messi

 

Messi is an Argentine professional soccer player who plays for Major League Soccer Inter Miami and the Argentine National Team. He is often regarded as one of the greatest football players to ever grace the game and is the only seven-time winner of the European Ballon d’Or and Golden Boot.

 

 

 

 

 

MESSI AND BARCELONA 

 

 

Messi made his debut as a substitute during a pre-season friendly against José Mourinho’s Porto in 2003.

In 2007, he finished third in the Ballon d’Or, with Ronaldo runner-up behind AC Milan’s Kaká. In 2008/09, Messi enjoyed an excellent partnership with Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o, with the trio scoring 100 goals between them in all competitions. It was a record number of goals scored for Barcelona at the time and Messi contributed 38 goals in 51 appearances.

 

 

 

 

 

The team triumphed in Europe two years later with a 3-1 victory over Manchester United and Messi was once again the tournament’s top scorer with 12 goals.

 

In 2012, Messi became the club’s all-time leading scorer at the age of 24 and would finish the campaign with 73 goals in all competitions, a record that surpassed the previous highest tally of 67 in a single season by Gerd Muller in 1972/73 Bundesliga. Barcelona would also equal Real Madrid’s record of 100 La Liga points in 2013.

 

Another historic treble followed in 2014/15 with Luis Enrique. This was the ‘MSN’ season – Messi, Suárez and Neymar. The trio’s chemistry was as strong on the field as it was off the field, with the striker’s goals leading Barcelona to La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League triumphs. This was Messi’s fourth European crown.

 

He scored 672 goals in 778 games for Barcelona.

 

 

 

MESSI Y PSG

 

On August 6, 2021, Barcelona announced that he would be leaving the club “due to financial and structural obstacles.”

Messi signed for  PSG  on August 10, 2021 and obtained the PSG shirt with Lionel Messi’s number 30.

During his 2-year career at PSG, he participated in 74 games and managed 32 goals + 35 assists.

On June 8, 2023, Messi joined  MLS International Miami Football Club  in the number 10 shirt.

He scored 9 goals in six games and won the 44th championship of his career.

 

 

 

Iconic Moment with His National Team

 

In 2021, Messi won an international trophy when  Argentina  beat host country Brazil 1-0 in the Copa América final.

Ángel Di María scored the winning goal, while Messi was named player of the tournament with four goals.

 

In the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Messi led Argentina to defeat France with a total score of 7-5, won the World Cup and was chosen best player in the final.
